A flash question!

Question posted by Sylvain [Blainville]

Dear experts, I’m a fan of photography and I recently bought a SLR camera.

However, I’m having trouble snapping two flash photos in a row. The specialists at the store told me that the problem was related to the battery I’m using with my camera and wasn’t a malfunction of the product itself. Is this really possible or am I being fooled?

Answer :

Dear Sylvain,
Many photography fans experience the same situation. Nevertheless, there is an explanation and a SOLUTION!

Low voltage condition!

A flash, no matter if you own a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) photo flash unit or a standard digital camera, requires an extreme amount of power in a short period of time, that may impact the length of time self-discharge of the batteries to vary. It might take 4-5 seconds for the batteries to return to their initial voltage and enable the flash function. Just the time you would have needed to snap one of your best memories!
