BU-STRT-US-50 SMA Smart Energy Backup Start Module

The SMA Backup Start module (BU-STRT-US-50) is a hardware component designed to enable the SMA Backup Secure functionality in Sunny Boy Smart Energy hybrid inverters during a grid outage. It ensures that the inverter can initiate backup power, particularly in systems with rapid shutdown requirements, allowing it to restart using energy from the battery or PV array even after a complete power loss. 
Key uses and functions include:

• Enabling Emergency Power: Essential for starting the inverter during a grid outage to provide electricity to connected loads.
• Black Start Capability: Equipped with its own battery, the module allows the system to start up independently of the grid.
• Rapid Shutdown Compatibility: Required in systems using rapid shutdown modules (NEC compliant) to enable the Backup Secure feature.
• Overnight Operation: Allows the backup power feature to function even if the outage continues through the night into the next day. 

It is designed to be installed directly in the SMA inverter and is necessary for supplying power to essential loads via a dedicated socket.
