Solar energy is rapidly gaining popularity in Quebec, especially thanks to new financial aids encouraging self-production. More and more homeowners want to produce their own electricity, reduce their bills, and maximize their investment.

But a common question arises: how does Hydro-Québec’s new on-grid solar grant work and how can you benefit from it?

Here is a simple guide to understand this financial aid, how it works, and the steps to take advantage of it.

Navigating grant programs can quickly become complex: eligibility criteria, administrative procedures, equipment choices, validation steps.

At Batteries Expert, we simplify the entire process for you. Our team supports you from the very beginning by analyzing your project, assessing your eligibility, and identifying the best options to maximize the grants offered by Hydro-Québec.

From initial analysis to final installation, each step is guided by our experts to help you carry out your project with confidence, efficiency, and peace of mind.

Here are Hydro-Québec’s Grants

The new Hydro-Québec program offers $1,000 per kW installed, up to a maximum of 40% of the total project cost. For businesses, additional aid may be available, increasing total support.

Residential Grant

Project concerning an eligible dwelling, such as a house (single-family, semi-detached, townhouse, mobile home, or cottage) or a residential building with 19 units or fewer.

  • Hydro-Québec offers up to $1,000 reimbursement per kW installed
  • Up to a maximum of 40% reimbursement of the total project cost
Commercial Grant

Project concerning a small business or eligible building (garage, store, farm, etc.)

  • An additional 30% tax credit for clean technologies offered by the federal government

How an On-Grid System Works

In addition to using electricity supplied by Hydro-Québec, you also consume the electricity you produce yourself or that you have stored using equipment you own and operate.

Since your installations are connected to Hydro-Québec’s grid, energy exchanges work like communicating vessels: electricity flows both ways depending on your needs and production.
